Automatic Separating Pump System - “YES” to water - “NO” to oil Maintaining the integrity of bunded areas designed to contain oil leaks and spillages, can be a major problem for operators of any size - particularly those with remote or unmanned installations. The bund will collect rainwater and, before too long, the holding capacity of the bund will be significantly reduced. Obviously as oil floats on water, once the capacity drops below 100% there is a risk of oil escaping over the bund wall should a tank spillage occur. The BundGuard system was developed over ten years ago as a low cost, self-contained and easy to fit automatic pump and alarm unit. The unit works continuously and automatically 24/7, 365 days a year. How the system works … BundGuard uses advanced micro-chip technology to discriminate between oil and water. A robust sensor unit mounted in the sump of the bund monitors various liquid levels and automatically activates the submersible pump (included with system) to remove unwanted rainwater. As a fail-safe precaution, the system provides warning lights and an alarm to alert the operator to a pump failure or malfunction; whilst a second alarm provides a warning when oil leaks or spillages reach the predetermined level. BundGuards can be installed with minimum disruption and within six months will save you the cost of manually pumping out surface rainwater.
