Baker Environmental Lining Services Limited have been awarded a substantial project to refurbish several bunds and tanks on a military site in compliance with PPG2 and OFTEC Regulations.

The programme involved cleaning nine bunds, by removing moss/debris and contaminated water via bulk vacuum tankers. The bunds were then grit blasted in readiness for the application of our GRP lining system. There were also a number of tanks located in the bunds which were showing signs of coating deterioration. These were high pressure jet washed to remove all loose coating and moss/other contaminants. A flexible polyurethane system was applied to the tanks to provide a long lasting durable finish.

The third element of the programme was to ensure that existing tank pipework complied to Oftec Regulations. A number of breather pipes had to be extended and repositioned, various hydrostatic gauges and overfill alarms had to be installed or replaced. Pressure testing of oil lines was also carried out and certification provided.

The client also requested various gantry modifications. All new installations were painted to the existing colour.

The project was scheduled over a three and a half month period; despite torrential rain and unrelenting snow blizzards Baker were able to complete this project within the timescale.

Working in partnership with one of their trusted companies Baker were able to provide a complete management programme for these works.
